Glyphs and melee damage

Can glyphs be considered melee damage depending on your positioning? For example, if I have 80% points dedicated to melee damage, will this bonus apply to my glyph if my enemy is next to me? I know glyphs already scales with aoe damage bonuses and not single target. Correct me if i'm wrong.
