Getting strange error message when trying to update, cannot launch.

It stops patching and says: An error occurred whilst writing to disk. Check that there is sufficient space and that you have the necessary rights.

I know there's more than enough memory in my computer but this is the second time I've had a program go on about 'permissions' and refuse to work.
